SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Philadelphia Police assist in arresting the suspect in a Syracuse homicide. Around 2 a-m Saturday morning 20 year old Alex Rivero Rosa was shot and killed outside of Calcano's Tavern on North Geddes Street.
Police say they reached out to Philadelphia police after they learned the suspect, 27 year old Juan Cirino had boarded a plane.
Philadelphia Police took Cirino into custody at the airport.
Syracuse detectives were then sent to Philadelphia and were able to interview him.
Syracuse Police Chief Frank Fowler said "In interviewing the suspect, he alleged that he was in a fight with our murder victim, Mr. Rivero Rosa, on at least one occasion, and the two exchanged words in the form of an argument at a couple points after that, and that is what ultimately lead up to the confrontation that night."
Cirino is charged with second degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon. He is awaiting extradition from Philadelphia.
