ALEXANDRIA BAY, N.Y. - More than 3,000 people came out for the 10th annual Oktoberfest at the Thousand Islands Vineyard Saturday to enjoy beer, bratwurst, and a messy grape stomping competition.
But unlike other Oktoberfests, this one isn't just about the beer.
Crafts, face painting and games for the little ones make it a family-friendly event.
It may be a little different from the traditional festival in Germany, but organizers try their best to keep it as authentic as possible.
Thousand Islands Vineyards Owner Steve Conaway said "We also have a lot of German vendors here. So we have Wursthaus which features a lot of German foods and then we have the Enzian Bavarian band from Syracuse which is an actual German oopmah band."
The event is the biggest of the year for the vineyard.
