FORT DRUM, N.Y. -- All of Fort Drum's civilian workforce has returned to work despite the continued shutdown.
On Tuesday, employees were briefed to clear up some of the confusion surrounding the situation.
Union members that had been picketing last week during the furloughs were told that they'll be paid as normal for their work this week. The back pay for the hours furloughed employees missed out on is still up in the air.
"They are still waiting congressional action on that. It's pending before the Senate right now. Hopefully the Senate acts on that quickly. The President's indicated that he would sign that as soon as they pass it up to his office, so hopefully that gets moving quickly," said Jeff Zuhlke, AFGE Local 400 Union President.
The Union president says exempt employees who worked during the furloughs haven't been paid for that time either.
