Thousands of fishermen will head to Salmon River for peak fishing season this weekend. As YNN's Candace Hopkins reports, a new event will help celebrate some of the best salmon fishing outside of Alaska.
PULASKI, N.Y. -- Every year the Salmon River Fishing Festival celebrates the biggest weekend of the year in Pulaski. However, a new fishing expo has been added to this weekend's festivities.
The event will be held at the Kallet Theater, and will feature vendors and experts from the fishing industry. The expo was added thanks to the large popularity of the Time Warner Cable Sports show, "The Run".
The show was filmed in Pulaski and highlighted the area's legendary fishing. The expo was organized by the cast of the show. They said the event will have something for everyone.
"You're going to have food, it's definitely not geared just towards anglers, bring your family, bring grandma, bring grandpa, bring your aunt and uncle, there's going to be something for everybody," said Richard Miick, Salmon River Fishing Expo organizer.
Many of the captains of from the show will be on hand during the event to meet fans and answer questions.
In addition to the expo, there will be live music, food vendors, and family activities throughout the weekend in South Park in the village. The expo runs from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday at the Kallet Theater. Admission is free.
