SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Syracuse officials said conditions are improving at corner stores across the city.
Another round of surprise inspections were held over the past week. As a result, two more stores were forced to close.
However, eight other corner stores passed the inspection. According to Mayor Stephanie Miner, owners appear to be taking the initiative seriously.
Stop-n-Save on Midland Avenue and Columbus Deli on East Fayette Street were the latest shops to close. Both stores had illegal wiring, open sewers, and additional issues. Stop-n-Save previously failed an earlier round of inspections.
