NEW YORK STATE -- Two men who robbed about $24,000 from eight banks are now headed to prison.
Zachariah Edwards of Frankfort and Nicholas Ferrone of Utica were sentenced to three years behind bars and ordered to pay back the money they stole.
The pair was arrested last spring after going on a robbery spree from January to March and spanned from Syracuse to Albany and even Massachusetts. No weapons were ever shown during the bank robberies, but the men did threaten that they were armed.
Ferrone was ordered to pay more than $24,000 in restitution and Edwards more than $21,000. Both have also been ordered to undergo drug and mental health treatment.
