ONEIDA COUNTY, N.Y. – There is an update on the father of the Utica child whose remains were found in the Mohawk River.
Jevon Wameling was indicted by a grand jury last week on an unrelated case for one count of burglary in the second degree and grand larceny in the fourth degree. He was arraigned on Friday.
Court documents say Wameling entered a home in Oriskany and stole money and jewelry valuing more than a thousand dollars.
According to the Oneida County District Attorney, Wameling was assigned an attorney, but that person has since asked to be removed from the case. The DA would not say why.
Wameling had been considered a person of interest in the disappearance of his son, Levon, but no charges have been filed in that case.
