At 10 a.m. on Wednesday, the public will have its first chance to purchase tickets for the Syracuse University men's basketball games. As YNN's Candace Hopkins reports, this year's tickets are a hot commodity.
SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Basketball tickets at Syracuse University are always big sellers, but some of the biggest crowds are expected during the upcoming season. Now that SU has moved to the ACC, games against Duke and North Carolina are highly anticipated.
On Tuesday, alumni and season ticket holders were givent the first opportunity to buy singe game tickets. However, they were limited to eight tickets each. The tickets left over from Tuesday's sales, will now be offered to the general public.
For the Duke game, officials estimate there will only be a few hundred tickets available. It will be a similar situation for the North Carolina game.
If you are one of the lucky ticketholders for the Duke game, college officials expect it to be legendary.
"Just moving to the ACC and having these two iconic programs come here to the Dome and play our iconic program, there's no question that the Syracuse versus Duke game will be the biggest game in all of college basketball this coming year," said Joe Giansante, Syracuse University Executive Senior Associate Athletic Director.
Officials say the best bet for securing tickets is to buy season tickets or a six pack of tickets. Season tickets start at $480, and a six pack will get you to one of the big games, plus five other games for $160.
College officials suggest purchasing your ticket online or over the phone. However, they say nothing is concrete. If the website gets too busy, you could be shut out. Tickets are expected to sell out in about five minutes.
