UTICA, N.Y. -- It's controversial issues like the resignation of the Citizen's Advisory Committee that usually brings animosity to Utica common council meetings and Wednesday was no different.
Council members and Utica residents say they lack of decorum in their meetings must come to an end.
A behavioral expert was asked to speak at Wednesday night's common council meeting. Patrick Johnson spoke about the possibility of hosting a workshop for council members to learn basic ground rules and etiquette for the workplace.
"We're talking about civility and really respecting people regardless of their ideologies, regardless of their politics, but respecting people as people first," said Johnson.
Johnson says by using tools like the right tone and approach, meetings could be much more respectful.
