ONEIDA SHORES PARK - 2 Cicero-North Syracuse High School students organized a HallowRun for Hunger 5-K race.
Participants ran along the shores of Oneida Lake to help raise money for the Food Bank of Central New York.
The teens, who are on the Cross Country team, have organized Halloween for Hunger for the past two years...and decided to marry their cause with their love of running.
They say the need is out there, even if you don't see it.
"The Food Bank is really important to us because it helps a lot of hungry families in the community. We don't really see it as much as we think, it all happens behind closed doors, and you never really think there's hunger in your community. So it feels really good to help people," said Liz Westfall, HallowRun Co-Director.
Prizes were awarded to the top finishers as well as for the best costumes.
