SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- A man wanted for alleged contractor scams was arrested in Syracuse.
The Onondaga County Sheriff's Department has been looking for Jesse Stokes, 51, since last February. He was finally picked up on Tuesday after the sheriff's office received a tip.
According to investigators, Stokes posed as a contractor, and targeted elderly people or children. They said he would collect money, and never perform the work.
Sheriff's deputies believe some victims have not reported the crimes because they were afraid of physical retaliation. If you believe you are a victim of Stokes' scam, contact the Onondaga County District Attorney's office at (315) 435-2470.
