A Syracuse man is accused of stabbing and killing his estranged wife, their friend and injuring another woman. It happened at the friend's Liverpool home. As our Iris St. Meran explains Justin Dallas is in custody and is facing a number of charges including first and Second degree murder.
LIVERPOOL, N.Y. -- Police cars and crime scene tape surrounded this home at 915 Second Street in the village of Liverpool all day, Monday. Onondaga County Sheriff Kevin Walsh says 26-year-old Justin Dallas went to this home because his wife 24-year-old Brandy Dallas was there.
Onondaga County Sheriff Kevin Walsh said, "He ended up stabbing his wife to death, stabbing his friend to death and also pushing one of the women that lived in the house down a flight of stairs."
Walsh said Dallas used a folding pocket knife. The friend is 30-year-old Samantha Rainwater and she owned the home. Walsh said just before the stabbing there was a fight but it's unclear what it was about.
Police have not identified the other woman in the house, but said she called police to report that Justin Dallas had stolen a car and fled. The Liverpool Police Chief and two deputies caught up with him at Onondaga Lake Park.
"The suspect got out of the car, ran into the lake. The chief and two deputies followed the suspect into the lake. He got up to about waist depth, he went under the water, they pulled him out and made an arrest,” Walsh added.
The 26-year-old was arraigned Monday night, charged with one count of first degree murder, two counts of second degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon.
Authorities say there was a domestic violence incident involving his estranged wife back in July.
He faces separate charges in that case and had an order of protection against him.
The two have two children ages 8 and 3. Rainwater also has a 12-year-old child.
They were not home at the time of the incident.
Walsh added, "The families are going to have to do a lot of healing. The counselors are available to them."
Authorities say the children are with loved ones.
Walsh says Dallas could face more charges. He is being held in Onondaga County jail without bail.
