FORT DRUM, N.Y. -- Army members from all over the country come to Fort Drum and often times they struggle to find outside sources of community support.
Now that a new Crossfit gym has opened in the North Country, some army members and their spouses say they feel like they finally have a place to make them more at home.
The workouts, done at a high intensity, can be extremely challenging but the gym's sense of camaraderie helps them push through the pain.
"Seeing each other be raised up, seeing the last person that finishes is the one that everyone is cheering for and just having people come in here and say, 'Hey I can't even do a pull up,' and a month later they're doing five pull ups," said Gracey Wike, Messenger Crossfit Owner.
Crossfit workouts involve varied cardio, gymnastics, and Olympic weightlifting movements.
