SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Some of the country's best collegiate runners will participate in the men's and women's cross country championships at Drumlins Country Club in November.
It is all part of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association National Championships. The events are scheduled for November 7 and November 8. The men's and women's teams from SUNY ESF will be one of 50 colleges competing. More than 500 athletes are expected.
Some of the featured events including 6 kilometer and 8 kilometer races. The championship will also be a great way to showcase the athletic program at SUNY ESF.
"A lot of the students that we draw probably come within 200 miles of Syracuse. So, by having some athletic programs now where they competed in high school, now they come on as a student, they can still compete," noted SUNY ESF Cross Country Coach John View.
The Syracuse Convention and Visitors Bureau estimates the championships will generate more than $500,000 in revenue for Onondaga County.
