LIVERPOOL, N.Y. -- The man accused of setting fire to a garage at an apartment complex in Liverpool will stand trail.
Christopher Deverso, 40, previously accepted a deal to plead guilty to attempted arson. During this previous two court appearances, the sentencing for his plea deal was pushed back.
On Wednesday, the judge vacated the guilty plea and ordered a trial instead.
According to investigators, Deverso and Robert Swartz intentionally set a fire that destroyed a garage at the Norstar Apartments in July 2012. They said the men did it so Deverso could collect on nearly $80,000 in insurance on two cars inside the garage.
Deverso is expected to appear in court next week to schedule a trial date.
