People haven't even put away their Halloween costumes yet, while others are already preparing for Christmas. As YNN's Carmella Mataloni reports, people are already transitioning to the holiday season.
VESTAL, N.Y. -- It's November 1 and you may already start to hear and see signs of Christmas.
Already, radio stations are already making that transition as the holiday season approaches. Mix 103.3 is just one of the local stations already turning their sound booths into winter wonderlands to test out those holiday tunes.
The station plays Christmas 24 hours per day, seven days per week. DJs Lori and Dave from the Mix Morning Show said it's all about getting people into the holiday spirit.
"We are the Southern Tier's Christmas music station. Other stations play music too, but we do it 24 hours a day," said Dave. "And it's all to make people feel better about the season and to make memories, and having us on in the background helps. We are happy to be apart of it."
Music isn't the only way the station is joining in on the holiday fun. Mix 103.3 is also hosting a Turkey Drive with Catholic Charities from November 15 to November 22. They are also hosting the annual Christmas Wish Letters to make donations to needy families.
The radio isn't the only place you can catch signs of the holidays. Christmas decorations are already taking over the shelves in some stores.
Target, for example, has been preparing for Christmas since September. The back corner of the Target store on Vestal Parkway has already started setting up its Winter Wonderland.
According to store employees, the most popular items people buy early are lights for the house and the tree. They said over the next week, the entire back of the store will be dedicated to Christmas decorations.
Store officials said they plan to make the store a one stop shop for their customers during this holiday season.
"Fourth quarter is certainly our busiest time of year. It's the time that we prepare for most and it's our most exciting and it's my personal favorite time of the year. Our guests are amazing and our team is really excited so it's a really great time of year," said Lauren Coringrato, Target Store Team Leader.
Another change you can expect, is the Target advertisements to get bigger as the weeks progress.
