SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- A blast from the past for SU football fans this weekend as Donovan McNabb will be back in the Carrier Dome as his jersey is retired.
At SU, McNabb led the Orange to bowl games all four years, including prestigious trips to the Fiesta and Orange Bowls. The quarterback set all sorts of Big East records during his SU career.
McNabb has remained very active with the school, even after leaving. He says Saturday's ceremony will be a very proud moment for him.
"When you can look up and see the #44 retired, now you can see #9 and then to have your number up there with those guys, that's a special feeling. When my kids grow up and receive, hopefully, scholarships or come to Syracuse University to play, they can look up and know that there daddy finally did something," McNabb said.
His number will be retired at halftime of the Wake Forest game. Kickoff is at 12:30 p.m. and tickets are still available.
