UTICA, N.Y. -- Utica officials were breaking in recently renovated basketball courts, Monday. Mayor Robert Palmieri unveiled the $78,000 renovation at Addison Miller Park.
The project was funded through Community Development Block Grant funds.
All the fencing, lighting and basketball hoops were replaced and the courts were re-paved.
The project started in 2012 and was completed at the end of September.
Officials say this was the first renovation that's been done at Addison-Miller Park in decades.
"This is part of our overall plan to keep the youth active, off the streets and into a well oiled machine, which, at this point, we feel this basketball court gives them everything they're looking for," Utica Mayor Robert Palmieri said.
City officials say they hope to do similar renovations at two additional parks in Utica.
