SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Travelers are typically asked to arrive to the airport at least two hours early for enough time to get through security. However, flyers traveling through Hancock Airport in Syracuse will now have the option to go through security more quickly.
The TSA Precheck Program is now available at the airport. It allows pre-approved passengers to keep their shoes, and some coats on. Those travelers can also keep laptops and security compliant liquids in their bags.
Members of some frequent traveler programs or a Customers and Border Protection Trusted Travelers Program are eligible. You may also be eligibal if you fly participating airlines, including America, Delta, United, or U.S. Air.
If you're unsure, just check your boarding pass for the TSA precheck logo and head to the designated screening lane.
"It's a breeze. It's like it was 40 years ago. You can almost walk on the plane with your relatives. It was cool, a great experience," said Larry Simone, an Austin, Texas resident.
Officials say the program will still incorporate random and unpredictable security measures.
