Obama, Clinton gearing up for Super Tuesday
UNITED STATES -- With only days until Tuesday's influential Democratic presidential contests in Ohio and Texas, Hillary Clinton spent her weekend campaigning in the Lone Star state. She spent Saturday stumping in Fort Worth and Dallas.
Clinton is using this last weekend to remind voters of her differences with rival Barack Obama on the issue of national security, but on Saturday night, Clinton took time out of her busy campaign schedule for a quick stop by the late night sketch comedy show SNL. There she thanked the show for giving her a boost after last weekend's parody of a debate in which reporters fawn all over Obama.
This week, as part of the show, the real Clinton delivered an editorial response following a debate sketch in which Obama is lobbed softball questions while Clinton gets tougher questions.
Meanwhile, Clinton has picked up an Oscar winning endorsement. Actor Jack Nicholson is backing her candidacy and has made a video with director Rob Reiner entitled "Jack and Hill.”
The endorsement cobbles together clips from some of his more famous roles including "A Few Good Men," "Batman" and "The Shining." In the clip from “A Few Good Men,” he says there's nothing sexier than saluting a woman.
The endorsement says she'll end the war in Iraq and help the nearly 47 million Americans without health care.
Barack Obama is setting his sights on Rhode Island, hoping to gain another few wins over Clinton. The Illinois Senator spoke to supporters at a rally in Providence Saturday. There, he challenged Clinton's judgment and commitment on trade and foreign policy. And during his swing through The Ocean State, Obama supporter, Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick was stumping for him in Ohio and Illinois Congresswoman Janice Schakowsky spent time campaigning for Obama in Vermont.
Tuesday is primary day for Texas, Rhode Island, Ohio and Vermont.
