The GOP Convention has officially kicked off in Tampa, Florida. While the convention is in a holding pattern thanks to Isaac, there is still plenty of excitement ahead of the Republican Party’s nominations. YNNs Errol Louis and Liz Benjamin have more.

TAMPA, Fla. -- The Republican National Convention has officially started.

The first day of the convention is shortened because of Tropical Storm Isaac.

Shortly after the convention was gaveled open and quickly adjourned, there was an opening prayer followed by a moment of silence for those working security for the event.
Then they announced the start of a debt clock which they plan to run for the duration of the convention to highlight the economy and what they're calling the failure of the Obama administration.

The convention is now in recess until Tuesday. Speeches scheduled for the first day were rescheduled.
