UTICA, N.Y. -- If the power goes out, the cCty of Utica says they're prepared.

Mayor Robert Palmieri is surrounding himself with nearly a dozen agencies to get ready for potential high winds and power outages across the city.

One of their concerns is for the city's lighting. They plan on replacing broken traffic signals with temporary stop signs, but they say all drivers should treat broken signals as four way stops.

Utica Police say they plan to step up foot patrols in neighborhoods that have gone dark.

Mayor Palmieri says the group's plans are about as well planned as they could possibly be.

"It's not foolproof. But as I said before, we've got it pretty much under control the best we can, but mother nature is much stronger than we are," he said.

Officials also want to remind people to stay away from any downed trees or power lines during the storm.

National Grid and DPW will be sending crews to take care of those issues.
