The Spa Spot: DRF says Paynter in NJ clinic
Daily Racing Form reports that Travers prospect Paynter is staying at a clinic in New Jersey, which could affect his status for the marquee race of the Saratoga season.
Paynter finished second in the Belmont Stakes and was being pointed toward the Travers on August 25. However, when Bodemeister, who is also owned by Zayat Stables, missed training for the Haskell Invitational, Paynter was sent to $1 million race at Monmouth. Paynter won the Haskell but spiked a fever two days later and has been out of training. Instead of being sent to Saratoga, he has been relocated to the clinic.
