The Spa Spot: Fourstardave still on turf
Rain forced NYRA to move five grass races to the main track Saturday, but the Grade 2 Fourstardave is still scheduled to be run on the inner turf course that is rated as "yielding."
Post time for the one-mile $500,000 race is 6:45 p.m.
Two horses have been scratched from the field: Stuart Janney's Data Link and Ghislaine Head's Right One. The main track only entry Crossbow is out, too. Seven horses remain.
The first four turf races of the day were moved to the sloppy, sealed main track early in the morning, producing a total of 19 scratches. The 10th was switched and a total of eight runners were scratched after a strong storm dumped rain on the track at 1:15 p.m.
After the storm passed, leading trainer Todd Pletcher scratched highly touted Archwarrior from the sixth, a race for 2-year-old maidens. The Arch colt, purchased for $375,000 at the OBS 2-year-old sale in March, turned in a number of fast works and likely would have been the betting favorite. The race was won by Majestic Hussar.
