The Spa Spot: Day 29 wrap

<span style="color:#cc0000"><em>The Spa Spot: </em></span>Day 29 wrap
It was a tough afternoon for leading rider Ramon Dominguez. He won a pair of races to push his total to 49, was thrown off a horse at the end of the eighth. He did not suffer serious injuries.

Dominguez was launched about 15 feet when Bluember had a catastrophic breakdown of his right front leg in the eighth.

  • Jockey Julien Leparoux was unseated coming out of the gate aboard Cypress Pond in the 10th. For a couple of jumps Leparoux was balancing himself on his hands on the rumps of his horse and the horse to his outside, Warm Glow. It looked like a circus act as Leparoux deftly worked his way out of jeopardy and dropped to the ground.

  • Trainer Todd Pletcher added his meeting-leading totals with a pair of wins to move to 27. Coach A.J. became Pletcher's 19th 2-year-old winner of the season when he captured the seventh with a determined run through the stretch.

  • Rosie Napravnik won the 10th aboard Krissy Kat even though she and the filly bore out pretty severely in the stretch, taking challenger Warm Glow out at least three paths. Krissy Kat won by a head.

  • Attendance was up two percent to 16,902. The on-track handle was up five percent and the total handle of $11,113,771 was up six percent.
