BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -- For hours and hours, a group of 50 to 60 family and friends of the victims waited at Broome County Catholic Charities for answers. Those answers were few and far between and many were growing frustrated until about 5 p.m. when a group of survivors and the police walked down Main Street and what ensued was a tearful and joyful reunion.

"He was just shooting. We were taking class, usual day. I was on the first floor and the first time just listened, the shots, start panic, just run away. We just was scared, just waiting, because police know about it, all the time police were on the phone," said shooting survivor Alexander Galkin.

"I was in shock. Teacher told us be quiet please and my whole body was numb, said shooting survivor Zhanar Tokhtabayeva. “I was in shock. I thought it's finished, my life.”

"I was very relieved, I was very tense, after that I was very relaxed. I'm lucky that my wife is alright. Also my two friends are alright, so it's good," said Arnur Tokhtabayeva.

But for many, the uncertainty continued to eat away at them.

"I don't know any information yet. I try to ask the official, but they still don't know. That's why I left work. I'd been waiting for over two hours. I would like to know how they're doing. My heart is pumping right now," said Minh Nguyen, who has two friends in the building.

"I haven't gotten any info, that's why I keep going back and forth to gather info on my own. The things I have right now is hope," said Omri Yigal, who’s wife was in the building.

The Broome Catholic Charities has been providing shelter for families and friends, as well as food and drinks. They say they'll stay open as long as they're needed.

The Catholic Charities of Broome County issued a press release. The group said they're "deeply saddened by the shocking attack and their primary concern at this time is for the well-being of the families and friends of the victims."
