Former Syracuse football player Da'mon Merkerson has signed a free-agent contract with the Hartford Colonials of the UFL, a team coached by former NFL coach Jerry Glanville.
The UFL is a five-team professional football league that begins its season August 13th.
Merkerson, a converted wide receiver, had the only two interceptions of his career last season and helped the Orange to a breakthrough 8-win season.
Merkerson will team up with former SU lineman Adam Terry with the Colonials, play his home games at Rentschler Field, and report for training camp Monday July 18th.
