PHOENIX, N.Y. - The Phoenix football team is playing with renewed purpose this year as they honor the memory of one of their former players, Ridge Barden. The Firebird defensive lineman was killed last year in a football game against Homer after a helmet-to-helmet collision.
The 2012 Phoenix team has dedicated their season to Barden. His friends and teammates say Barden still serves as an inspiration to them even now.
