UTICA, N.Y. - The Utica College football team has yet to make the postseason in its 12-year history, something this year's group of Pioneers is aiming to change.
Utica returns 15 starters from last year's team that went 5-5 including fourth-year starting quarterback Andrew Benkwitt, who already holds several program records. Despite the load of returning experience the Pioneers will still have an uphill battle to climbin the always-difficult Empire 8 Conference which features nationally-ranked No. 7 Salisbury and No. 11 St. John Fisher.
Utica opens its season Saturday, Sept. 1 at home against St. Lawrence. The game will be televised on Time Warner Cable Sports beginning at 7 p.m.
