NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. - The New Hartford football team won a sectional championship in 2008, returned to the finals in 2009, then dropped off quickly with two down seasons including a winless campaign last year. New head coach Todd Hobin is aiming to turn things around for the typically-proud program.

Hobin, a former player at Holland Patent and SUNY Cortland and former assistant coach at Cornell University, Ithaca College, and Hamilton College, takes the reigns of the Spartans from Bob Jones, who resigned from his alma mater after 16 seasons at the helm due to what he called "philosophical differences" with the athletic administration. Hobin is no stranger to the New Hartford program, having been the varsity offensive coordinator for the past three seasons and the junior varsity head coach for two, but he is treating this as a reboot for the team and says the players and coaches alike are on board with his changes in how things are done.

New Hartford opens the season Friday, August 31 at Watertown.
