PHILADELPHIA - Villanova's 75-71 overtime win over Syracuse on Saturday was made possible by a late 3-point shot that was the result of a smart decision by SU gone bad.

With 13 seconds left in the second half, Villanova had the ball down 61-58. Jim Boeheim told his team not to intentionally foul the Wildcats, which would result in only two free throws to guarantee maintaining the lead, because there was too much time left and Villanova could potentially make one free throw, miss the second, then get the rebound with a chance to win. The decision nearly paid off as the Wildcats missed a 3-point attempt to tie the game, but Mouphtaou Yarou they got the rebound and kicked it out to Ryan Arcidiacono who sank an awkward shot to tie the game with 2.2 seconds left and send it to the extra period.
