SYRACUSE, N.Y. - A week after playing his last college basketball game Brandon Triche will hit the baseball diamond to throw out the first pitch prior to the Syracuse Chiefs' home-opener on Saturday.

The game was supposed to take place Friday but persisent rain postponed it. Triche says he has not practiced at all but is confident he can reach into his baseball-playing past and throw a strike.

Triche also said he watched the NCAA championship game this past Monday against his initial will because it was such a good game that he was compelled to tune in, he hopes to have an agent hired within the next week or so, and he plans to reach out to former teammates Andy Rautins and Scoop Jardine to get advice on the pre-NBA Draft workout process. The draft is June 27.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Star point guard Michael Carter-Williams has announced that he's leaving Syracuse University.

In a statement, Jim Boeheim said he wished Carter-Williams the best as he pursues his NBA dreams.

Carter-Williams helped lead SU back to the Final Four. It was the first time in 10 years the Orange made it to college basketball's biggest stage.

In Division 1 basketball, Carter-Williams finished fifth in assist average and fourth in steals average.

NBA.com ranks MCW as the 15th best prospect in college basketball this year and the third best point guard in the draft.

NEW ORLEANS - Breanna Stewart carried a lot of hype into her freshman season at UConn and the Cicero-North Syracuse High School graduate more than lived up to it when it mattered most, becoming only the fourth freshman ever to be named Final Four Most Outstanding Player after leading the Lady Huskies to the program's eighth NCAA title on Tuesday.

Stewart averaged 21 points, six rebounds, and three blocks in five NCAA tournament games.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Syracuse men's basketball team returned to campus on Sunday with its collective head held high after making a Final Four run that many, including head coach Jim Boeheim, did not expect.

It was only the fifth Final Four appearance for Syracuse and only the sixth time an SU team won 30 games in a season, accomplishments made even more impressive considering the team lost its top four players from last season.

The Orange could lose its top four players again if sophomore guard Michael Carter-Williams and junior forward C.J. Fair join seniors Brandon Triche and James Southerland in trying for the NBA. Neither Carter-Williams nor Fair gave any indication of what their decisions might be following Saturday's loss to Michigan but Fair said he would probably make an announcement soon.
