Training: Week 4: Productive workout week

I’m not in a great mood to start off the day, but I push through and go to the gym anyway. I start on the treadmill. I walk at a brisk pace for about 34 minutes and end up going 3.04k. I feel like I am improving and building up my strength even though I only walked. The running is definitely going to be the hardest part for me, but I am working on it.
After running, I decide to try some strength training. I do four reps of 10-15 leg thrusts with 45lbs of weight on the machine. Next, I bench press 40lbs (which is just the bar). I do three reps of five. After that, I work on my abs. Then, I do two reps of 10 weighted squats on the machine. Then I do ten step ups on each leg. I am definitely feeling great after my workout. I feel motivated again.
I weigh myself today, and I am feeling a bit discouraged because at the beginning of last week, I had lost seven pounds since I had started my training. But today when I weigh myself, I’ve gained two pounds. After losing the weight, I was feeling motivated, but now I’m a bit discouraged. Hopefully, I’m just gaining muscle and losing fat. But I’m definitely a bit discouraged.

I’m exhausted today, but surprising not sore. I push through, and Jim and I go to the gym again today. I walk on the treadmill at a much brisker pace today. I do 1.76k in 19 minutes. I’m a bit pressed for time, so I can’t do any longer.
After the treadmill, I do more strength training. Strength training is more intense today. I up the weight and reps. I do 55lbs leg thrusts. One rep of sets of 10 using both legs, and then one rep of sets of 10 on each leg individually. Then I do another set of 10 with 75lbs using both legs. The leg thrusts on each side are tough. I feel the burn. I am so exhausted, but I push through. I also bench press 40lbs again. This time I do four reps of sets of five. I again work on the abdominals. I have a feeling I will be very sore tomorrow. I again feel pleased with my workout. I wish I had gotten up earlier to do a longer workout.

I decide to try out a Zumba class today. I like it a lot because it doesn’t feel like a workout, but after, I definitely feel like I worked out. It was a little awkward because there were only four other people in the class, but that’s okay. After Zumba, I do a quick five minute run. Nothing really exciting to report.

It was nice to have a day off, but now I’m back to the grind. I’m exhausted, so I don’t do too much. I run 1.73k in 16 minutes, which isn’t great, but I’m getting there. I also do a bit of strength training and abdominal work.

I’m at the ski hill again today. I was hoping for an easy day, but, again, we’re short on instructors and I end up teaching a lesson. But at least, I got a group that could go up the big hill, so it was fun. I also go ice skating with a few friends in the evening. I used to figure skate competitively, so I try out a few moves. I don’t do anything too major, a few jumps and spins. It is a lot of fun. I haven’t been skating in more than a year, so it’s a nice way to get a little exercise without feeling like I’m working out.
