SACRAMENTO, N.Y. -- Former SU star and current Sacramento King Donte Greene is a lifesaver.

Two days ago while boating with friends on the American River in Sacramento, Greene rescued a woman who had fallen overboard and couldn't swim by jumping in the icy water and lifting her into another boat.

Greene told KHTK radio in Sacramento that he used to be a lifeguard in high school and his old instincts kicked in.

Apparently several people drown in that spot in the river every year but Greene's reaction helped prevent one.

Donte also told the radio station he was watching with pride when the SU lacrosse team won its second straight national championship that same day.
