CENTRAL NEW YORK -- Central New York sent four teams to Boston last month for the NCAA lacrosse championships and two of those teams came home with national championships.

On Thursday, a pair of coaches who lead their teams to the national championship game received the highest honor.

Cornell coach Jeff Tambroni was named the USILA D-I Coach of the Year for guiding the Big Red into the championship game on Memorial Day. Tambroni led Cornell to a 13-4 record and a share of their seventh straight Ivy League title. He's the third Cornell coach to ever win the award, joining Richie Moran and Dave Petramalla.

Cortland's Steve Beville was named the D-III Coach of the Year, also by USILA. Beville guided the Red Dragons to the school's third national championship. Cortland was 19-2 this season, a school record for wins in a year. In three years at Cortland, Beville has a 52-10 career record.

Both Tambroni and Beville are West Genesee high school grads.
