A February report saying the NHL's Calgary Flames were moving their American Hockey League affiliate to Utica did not pan out, at least as of yet, but a new report says Utica will indeed be getting a minor-league team for the upcoming seaon: the top affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks.
The report, which you can read more about here, says the league will vote on the matter next Thursday.
Carl Annese, chairman of the Utica Aud which would serve as the team's home, would not confirm those details to YNN but did say "we have been talking with people, not directly with the Canucks. We have talked with people representing AHL clubs. Hopefully we can tell you something in the next week or so.”
