FORT DRUM, N.Y. -- The Syracuse University football team enters a new realm of training this week, as they‘ve made their way to Fort Drum for training camp.
The team began practice on Monday, but weren't led by Head Coach Doug Marrone. Instead, they got a few lessons from Fort Drum Major General Mark Milley.
Milley stressed the importance of teamwork, leadership, and getting a fresh start to represent the university in a positive manner.
"And this is the perfect venue to make that connective tissue between two organizations that mutually support each other, here in the North Country. And that are representative of the people on one hand and the army on the other," said Major General Mark Milley, the Fort Drum Commanding General.
SU Head Coach, Doug Marrone said, "Something that we must take with us for a long period of time. This is not being here for a week, walking away and forget about it. You know hopefully its a great partnership, and our kids will have this experience to make them achieve great success throughout their whole entire life."
The team will endure Army physical training and leadership courses throughout the week, to prepare them for the upcoming season. The team’s first scrimmage will be held this Saturday.
