SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Three former SU teammates had their NBA futures on the line Wednesday and at least one of them is now breathing a big sigh of relief.
Kris Joseph was told after practice Wednesday that he had made the final 15-man roster of the Boston Celtics, the team that drafted Joseph 51st overall in June.
Joseph's contract will be guaranteed as of January 10th and he'll likely begin his pro career with Boston's developmental league team in Maine.
Meanwhile, Rick Jackson got some bad news Wednesday when he was released by the Golden State Warriors after signing with the team as a free agent last month. Jackson was hampered by an achilles injury in training camp and was not able to participate in any preseason games.
Finally, Andy Rautins put in a final bid to make the 15-man roster of the Oklahoma City Thunder Wednesday night in the team's final preseason game. Rautins scored five points, grabbed three rebounds, picked off two steals, and dished out two assists in 15 minutes of action in the Thunder's 88-76 win over Dallas. Rautins scored 20 points for the Thunder in a previous preseason game and is expected to make the final cut this week.
