NEW YORK - Prince Tyson-Gulley racked up 264 total yards and three touchdowns to earn the Pinstripe Bowl MVP award as the Syracuse football team plowed through West Virginia 38-14 at a snow-covered Yankee Stadium on Saturday.
Jerome Smith added 158 rushing yards for the Orange, which ran for 369 overall--the program's first 300-yard rushing game since 2005.
On the other side, SU's defense held West Virginia's attack completely in check. The Mountaineers entered the game averaging nearly 42 points, seventh-highest in the Football Bowl Subdivision, and 519 total yards, eighth-best in the FBS, but only managed two touchdowns and 285 yards while also surrendering two safeties, one on a sack and another on a call for intentional grounding in the end zone.
Syracuse ends the season with six wins in seven games for an 8-5 record. The Orange has now beaten West Virginia (7-6) three-straight times.
