NEW YORK - Leading 45-29 with 15:34 to play, the Syracuse men's basketball team collapsed down the stretch as Louisville ended the game on a 49-16 run to win the Big East Championship 78-61.
The turning point came when James Southerland, who set a tournament record with 19 3-pointers, went to the bench with his fourth foul. The Orange only made two field goals the rest of the way.
Syracuse (29-6) now awaits its NCAA tournament seeding. The selection show starts Sunday at 6 p.m. on CBS.
