Taste of Syracuse underway

If you're looking for something to do this weekend and you like trying different foods, then head over to the Taste of Syracuse in Clinton Square. The Taste brings together restaurants from throughout the area. Our Katie Gibas has been out sampling what they have to offer.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- A little bit of rain didn't stop hundreds of people from taking in those famous one dollar samples at the annual Taste of Syracuse.

The two day event usually draws in more than 100,000 people to downtown's Clinton Square. More than 60 vendors and 40 restaurants are offering dollar samples, ranging from chicken spiedies to egg rolls.

Though the weather for opening day wasn't ideal, businesses say they've kept busy. And they say it's an opportunity to get exposure to new customers.

"We do well, but I think it's more along the lines of people trying new things for a dollar. And they like them, you know, great, if they don't, they move on to the next tent. So it gives people an opportunity to try things and not really break the bank," said Jeff Camire, Biscotti and Gelateria co-owner.

There is also a great musical line up for the festival.

If you missed Friday, don't worry, the Taste of Syracuse runs through Saturday night.
