For well over a century now, thousands from both the Northern and Southern Tier make their way to Troy, Pennsylvania for one week out of the year for the annual fair. Our Bill Mich was on hand for the opening day of the 137th Fair and has more on some of the attractions that hope to draw people to the box office.

TROY, Pa. -- The phrase "there is something for everyone" certainly gets thrown around a lot, but visitors to the Troy Fair in Bradford County made the case that this year, it may actually apply.

"We like looking at the animals, especially the grand kids, they like doing that. And of course, they've got some nice exhibits over in some of the buildings over there," said Wetona resident Jerry Frantz.

"I like the fun house with the mirrors and everything and the rocket ship. And I like watching the horses and the pig show," said Towanda resident Chris Horton.

Monday kicked off the 137th annual Troy Fair for a week of food, games and entertainment for people throughout the region. The highlight of the week will come Wednesday night when Daughtry takes the stage, an act that was not easy to book.

"A lot or work. You know, by the time we contacted him, they were very expensive but we wanted to give it a try here at the Troy Fair. People are supporting it, it's great," said Troy Fair President Cathy Jenkins.

During its 137 year run, many attractions have becomes staples at the event, like the antique tractors and the dairy shows, but sometimes you have to change things up to keep people interested.

And one of the new attractions this year is the live shark show. Bringing the nation's only 5,000 gallon aquarium to Northern Pennsylvania. Organizers say it is new things like this that keep people coming back.

"Things like that that you don't see at just any fair, you know. They're big shows, there's a lot to see. It's just a good country fair with a lot of big entertainment," Jenkins said.

Big entertainment that people will have a chance to see firsthand all week long.
