ROTC Cadets experience helicopter ride
POTSDAM, N.Y. -- Two Chinook helicopters flew from Fort Drum to Potsdam to pick up the cadets, then took them to Fort Drum and back.
The students were from Clarkson, St. Lawrence, SUNY Canton, and SUNY Potsdam and will be entering the service when they graduate.
"I like it a lot. In the army we do a lot of hands-on stuff, and this is just extra. I mean, not many people will get a chance to do this," said Jordan Kanaly, an ROTC cadet.
"If this is the career path you're choosing, you kind of need to know now what you're getting yourself into. So you need to know if you're going to be able to handle everything that's expected," said Elizabeth Holeman, another cadet.
