Operation Safe Stop Day
NEW YORK STATE -- Police officers will be out in force Wednesday, making sure children are safe at bus stops. It's the 13th annual Operation Safe Stop Day.
Officers will be on school buses and in both marked and unmarked patrol cars on bus routes with a history of illegal passing complaints.
The New York Association for Pupil Transportation says about 50,000 cars pass stopped buses every day and that 75 children have been hurt across the state over the past five years.
