Tim Green not running for State Senate
ONONDAGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- Tim Green announced Saturday that he will not challenge Republican John DeFrancisco for the 50th district State Senate seat. He told the Syracuse Post Standard former Governor Spitzer's resignation was a big factor in his decision.

Spitzer had asked Green to run. The Democratic Party also conducted a survey on his chances to win. DeFrancisco said he understands the decision.

"It's not an easy decision to make running for public office. It's a big commitment and there are a lot of family considerations that people have to consider. It's his decision, he made the decision that was best for him and I'm sure he will continue to be as successful as he has been in the past,” said Sen. John DeFrancisco, (R) State Senate, Syracuse.
