International Horse Show in Syracuse underway
GEDDES, N.Y. -- It's regarded as one of the most prestigious horse shows in the country. More than 500 show horses will compete in the 35th annual Syracuse International Horse Show at the New York State Fairgrounds.
The show is once again being hosted by the American Saddlebred Horse Association of New York. Organizers say it has continued to grow over the years and they're hoping fans will come out to support the hard work that it takes to prepare the horses for competition.
This year the proceeds from entry fees and concessions will benefit the Upstate New York Hospice Alliance. Awards will be presented daily on a series of standards.

"They're showing against standards that are established for each type of class. Some are riding classes, some are driving classes and some are what we call confirmation classes where the horses are judged in hand, no one is riding them and that's just judged on how the horse is built and how he moves across the ground," said Naomi Blumenthal the manager of the Syracuse International Horse Show.
The event runs through Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the Coliseum. Admission and parking are free.
