Small church gets big grant
OWEGO, N.Y. -- A small Owego Church just got a big grant. The Waits Community Historic Church was given $17,000.
The small church built in 1853 received the grant from the Mildred Faulkner Truman Foundation. A charitable organization that benefits Tioga County.

The historic Methodist Church located just off Waits Road is listed on the New York State and National Historic Registers. The funds will be used to repair the church's steeple and roof.
The Waits Cemetery Corporation controls the church property and will hold the funds.
