Pin found in Halloween candy in Clifton Park
A Clifton Park family makes a terrifying discovery this Halloween. Our Dave Detling has the story of a mother and daughter who found a pin in a candy bar.CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. -- "The only reason I saw it was because my light was shining on it," said the 13-year-old Clifton Park girl.
"She had opened the 3 Musketeers and thought that it was a piece of the foil that was still on the back of the 3 Musketeers," said the girl's mother.
But it was no wrapper. The 13-year-old said it was a pin inside her candy bar.

"I was actually quite surprised," said the mother.
The mother and daughter who made the disturbing discovery asked that we not reveal their identities.
It all started when the teen was trick-or-treating at the Pine Ridge development in Clifton Park. Police believe somewhere in her quest for sweets, someone slipped her a tainted treat.
Now, the straight pin has everyone in the neighborhood inspecting their candy. After all, the apartment complex caters to families with small children.
The mother thought these types of dangerous pranks were a thing of the past.
She said, "I knew it was possible, but it happened back in the 80s. It seemed like people realized you don't do that anymore or you will be tracked down."
The Saratoga County Sheriff's Department is investigating but so far have no leads. As for the the teen who found the pin, she's full of questions for the person responsible.
She said, "Why would someone do that? It takes up their time and it can hurt somebody. I probably would have cut my tongue or something, or maybe if I had actually swallowed it, it could have cut my stomach or something and that would have been bad."
Luckily the teen was not hurt. As for what's left of her candy, the mother said she's not taking any chances and is throwing it all away.
This story is a clear reminder, parents should always inspect their child's' candy.
