Energy efficiency tour
SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- As you do some holiday shopping over the next few weeks you may notice efforts by National Grid to help you lower your energy costs and reduce your carbon footprint.
This week a new efficiency exhibit is right here in Onondaga County and visited the Cicero Home Depot on Thursday. Experts say you can save $10 to $15 a month on your energy bill by just making some small changes.
The exhibit features an interactive booth featuring mascot Floe with rebate information, tips, and green giveaways.
National Grid officials say the exhibit helps both the company and its customers.
"Not only being good corporate stewards of the environment, but certainly what we can do to be stronger and better partners with our customers to really help them with their energy matters, their energy consumption, and really try to be a strong resource to our customers," said Melanie Littlejohn with National Grid.

Here are a few energy efficiency tips to keep in mind around the holiday season:
- If you still haven't selected your holiday lights you should look for those LED or low wattage bulbs.
- Once your lights are up you shouldn't leave them on when you’re not home.
- In addition, when you're plugging in your lights you should try to avoid overloading your outlets.
The energy exhibit will be visiting Carousel Center this weekend and then head east to stops in the Mohawk Valley next week.
