Wreaths Across America

Wreaths Across America
BATH, N.Y. -- From Arlington National Cemetery all the way to Bath National Cemetery, people laid wreaths on the graves of America's fallen soldiers.

"All these people lying here have served their country well and this is the least we could do to honor them,” said Nancy Kurk, American Legion Auxiliary President.

Wreaths Across America has become a nationwide effort to say thanks to the those who fought hard for our freedom.

"It’s a thank you for them; they're no longer here to see it in person, so this is our way of showing our respects to them,” said Bill Crane, Korean War Veteran.

The day is about honoring the brave men and women who served our country but it’s also about educating kids.

"To lay the wreaths on the veterans’ cemeteries and on the graves,” said Duncan Allen, Willie Ellis' son.

Willie Ellis and his two sons came early to help lay the wreaths.

"I want them to learn as they're growing up about the veterans what they've done for the country,” said Willie Ellis, laid wreaths.

And to carry on the tradition.

"These graves will be here forever and we won't. So it’s important that the children learn to respect the soldiers and all of the service personnel. They give their life and time for us for freedom,” said Kurk.

This is the third year the Bath National Cemetery has taken part in Wreaths Across America.
